The Achiever stereo inspection microscope (could be
properly termed a “macroscope”) is ideal for 3-D viewing of objects such
as artifacts, mineral specimens, fossils, insects, coins, stamps, and
more. The lighted base does also allow viewing of some of the larger transparent, slide-mounted objects--insect wings, for example-- by transmitted light (to view cells, protozoans, etc.., one needs a biological microscope).

The Achiever is very popular with hobbyists and schools alike, thanks
to its low cost, high quality, and built-in lighting. If you're
serious about microminerals, we also recommended purchasing an
inexpensive, white-LED lamp
or a fiber optic illuminator (each sold separately) to provide the
strong light/shadow contrast for viewing tiny crystals.
This microscope is available with either a 1x/3x or a 2x/4x turret,
for an effective magnification of 10x/30x or 20x/40x, respectively. Additionally,
a pair of 15x eyepieces ($56) can be purchased for this scope, allowing
for either 15x/45x or 30x/60x overall magnification.* unit comes with either a 1x/3x or a 2x/4x objective; please specify when ordering.
