Flask, Boiling, 100 mL, Round Bottom, imported (typically Bomex or Borosil). Boiling flasks are often used for more prolonged boiling of liquids (as opposed to an Erlenmeyer). Regardless of the brand you use (Pyrex, Kimax, imports, etc.), you should use a wire gauze or a heating bath to provide even heating of the glass. Many people-- ones who should know better-- tout the idea that Pyrex is immune to heat shock. Well, it isn't true.... there is no glass on earth that has exactly 0 as its coefficient of thermal expansion. So, please exercise good lab hygiene... diffuse that heat source.
