Handbook
of Solvent Extraction, Wiley Interscience publications. Edited
by Teh C. Lo, Malcolm H. I. Baird, and Carl Hanson.
1983 edition. 980 pp. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Ex-library
copy, good condition: binding is solid and all pages are intact.
Contains specialized articles from many different experts in the field of
industrial solvent extraction. Here's a sampling of some of the chapters:
Chemistry of Extraction of Nonreacting Solutes - N. F. Ashton, C. McDermott,
and A. Brench
Unsteady State Extraction - L. Steiner and S. Hartland
Principles of Mixer-Settler Design - M. J. Slater and J. C. Godfrey
Pulsed Packed Columns - A. J. F. Simmons
Scheibel Columns - E. G. Scheibel
Centrifugal Extractors - M. Hafez
Lube Oil Extraction - B. M. Sankey and D. A. Gudelis
Liquid-Liquid Extraction in the Food Industry - W. Hamm
Commercial Processes for Precious Metals - R. I. Edwards and W. A. M. te
Riele
Recovery of Metals from Liquid Effluents - S. O. S. Andersson and H. Reinhardt
Instrumentation and Control - S. P. Plonsky
Cost of Equipment - D. R. Woods
Cost of Process - M. W. T. Pratt
There are 31 chapters in all. Though there have been innovations in
solvent extraction technology since 1983, the fundamentals remain true now
as they did when this book was published. A lot of the processes
detailed in this book are still in wide use; we're not talking about
computer technology here. At the very least this book provides an important
starting point for further research. The early chapters go through
the theory, starting with the mathematics of solvent extraction systems.
This is a good theoretical and practical foundation for anyone going into
a field where there will be solvent extraction or industrial extraction process
design.
Shipping weight 5 lbs.
Size is about 10 1/4 x 7 1/8 inches, thickness is just over 2 1/4
inches.
The book has 980 pages.
Price: $89.95
