Copyright and Fair Use details
for the CR-Scientific Newsletter:
1. Photographs and other
graphics appearing in the newsletter (and on the website in general)
are Copyright 2005, CR-Scientific unless otherwise stated.
2. Works cited remain copyright
of their respective authors. Regarding information obtained from other
sources and cited herein,
here's US Code Title 17, Section 102 (b):
"In no case does copyright protection for an
original
work of authorship extend to any idea, procedure, process, system,
method
of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form
in
which it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in such
work."
What that means is, one can copyright specific images and blocks of
text, but one cannot copyright the ideas they contain. That, in
conjunction with the facts that (1) this newsletter is
intended for educational and academic use, despite its being written by
a for-profit company; (2) that which appears in this newsletter and is
referenced or
derived from other works is only in the form of published scientific
concept,
procedure, or fact; and (3) this newsletter does not in any way attempt
to
compete with sales by the repsective copyright holders of the works
referenced
herein; means we believe in all honesty that we are within the
guidelines
of Fair Use when citing published scientific journals and books.
3. You may not
take this Newsletter and represent it as your own work. The Newsletter
may not be copied or
distributed for sale or profit.
4. You may use this
Newsletter freely for classroom
and other
non-profit use. Please include appropriate citations where
applicable.

or other Internet media: You may cite this Newsletter
