Fisher 1266-X with 10" elliptical coil. Probably the most famous of the Fisher 1200-series detectors, the 1266-X was discontinued in 2001 but is still considered by many to be one of the best detectors ever made.

Cosmetics: the lower arm has some scuffs, and the coil itself is dirty/discolored on the underside (as expected); overall, the appearance is very good for a used machine. There is some electrical tape on part of the battery box, put there by its former owner who wanted to keep moisture out. The speaker grille also had tape over it, but we removed it.

Functionality: we recently paid to have this one worked on by Keith Wills of East Texas Metal Detectors. It came back to us in great operating condition. It should give you years of good service if you take care of it.

The 10" elliptical is nice for confined areas, such as between corn rows. The 1266-X gets excellent depth, even by today's standards. These don't come up on the market that often, because their owners keep them!

Sears model 321.596170 (essentially, a White's 6000/Di Series 2 with Sears labeling). Manufactured by White's for Sears in 1984 or '85.

Working condition, still finds coins. As far as depth, the White's Series 2's and 3's are still right up there with most of the entry-level metered detectors you're going to find on the market.  The all-metal mode goes deeper.

The analog meter used on these Coinmasters is every bit as accurate as the new-fangled digital meters, maybe better. There are still detectorists using these machines, and they are still finding coins and rings.

These units favor faster coil sweep speeds for optimum depth.

Comes with a heavy-duty carrying case.

It still works well and was just tested before packing up in its shipping box. Uses 4 "C" batteries. The control box needs a couple of short screws (easily replaced, especially if you get in touch w/ White's), but there are a couple present to hold the box closed so you can use the machine. The search coil is held on with a metal screw; you might want to replace this with a nylon one, if you can find one thin enough.  However, it works well the way it is.
