| Q: What are "infinity" optics? A: Essentially, they yield a collimated beam (parallel light rays) that is focused into an image by way of an additional lens in the light path. This allows for an added degree of image correction. Infinity optics have to be used in a microscope that was specially designed for them (such as the I4 or M2 lab scopes). Q: What are Achromatic, PLAN, and Semi-PLAN? A: Achromatic is a standard lens type designed to reduce or eliminate chromatic (color) aberration. Semi-PLAN and PLAN optics are improvements over the basic type. They "flatten" the field of view (i.e., more of the subject appears in the plane of focus). Full PLAN optics are the most expensive but allow the greatest "flattening" of the image. |

Allows for 500x magnification with a much better image than an "air" objective can give. This is the highest-resolution objective for the I4 and provides twice the field of view as the 100x oil objective. Great for differential counting.
