Various minerals (A thru L)- this section is now TN thru CAB size. The MM and MT size minerals have been moved to their own page. For an explanation of abbreviations used, please see our guide to mineral sizes.
Andradite (var. Melanite) - Sterling Hill, Ogdensburg, NJ. Fairly well-formed dark brown xtl., approx 1 cm across, embedded in calcite. Some has been worked away to reveal more of the crystal. There is a nick on one end, but the crystal shows decent form. #35 ... $4.00 Andradite- Sterling Hill, Ogdensburg, New Jersey. Brownish, fairly well-formed crystals to about 3 millimeters across. Matrix is calcite. For collection or reference, puttied in a plastic "Perky" box. Some crystals have minor damage, but most are intact and pleasing to view under mild magnification. TN. Ship. Wt. 0.2 lb (0.09 kg). #94...$5.00
Azurite. Sterling Hill or Franklin, New Jersey. A thin coating of blue azurite on the typical fl. calcite matrix with dense franklinite. The matrix looks a bit more like Franklin than Sterling Hill material, but it is hard to tell for sure. It is definitely from one of these localities, and azurite is rare at both of them. Disp. face about 4" x 2 1/2". Ship. wt. 1.8 lbs. #CR260 ... $24.00
Calcite & Dolomite - Showalter Quarry, Blue Ball, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Brown "dog-tooth" calcites with white dolomite xtls. Puttied to a plastic base. Specimen height approx. 2 inches. A nice MIN / "toenail". Ship. wt. 0.3 lb. #CR256 .... $16.00
Calcite with Scheelite and Fluorite - Hunan province, China.
Beautiful CAB size display specimen of many sparkling calcite crystals.
It is hard to appreciate them unless the specimen is seen in real life where
it can be rotated in the light.
The many, tiny scheelite crystals fluoresce brilliant blue in short-wave
UV (shown in right-hand photo), while the calcite has a very pale yellowish
response. The fluorite crystals are visible with a hand lens but do
not appear to fluoresce. Size: about 5 inches across longest diagonal,
4 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches tall. Calcite crystals to 1/2".
#F173... $50.00
Galena & Chalcopyrite - with sphalerite - West Fork Mine, Reynolds County, Missouri. Small, lustrous, modified octahedral galena xtls with many, tiny chalcopyrite xtl aggregates; individual galena and chalcopyrite xtls are best visible with loupe, but specimen is highly aesthetic for cabinet display. Back of specimen is mostly sphalerite micro xtls. Size approx. 6 cm tall x 4 cm wide x 3.5 cm thick. . #127 .... $25.00 The MM and MT size minerals are on their own page.
