• Teaching DemonstrationsThe TriField Natural EM Meter has a radio frequency range from 100 KHz all the way up to 2.5 GHz. This enables you to check for leaky microwave ovens, monitor cellular phone radiation, and look for RF-based amateur surveillance "bugs". The knob on the side of the meter allows you to set threshold.
The unit will measure changes in DC magnetic fields all the way down to +/- 2.5 milligauss - this is about 0.5% of the earth's magnetic field strength. Note that it measures changes only; unchanging DC fields will not be detected by the Natural EM meter.
One thing is certain... this meter is so sensitive to EMF changes that it will detect the motion of your hand as you wave it back and forth in front of the device. This is especially true when the Natural EM meter is set to "SUM" mode. Influencing this meter with the wave of a hand makes for a quick and easy classroom demonstration- consider having your students come up with a reason why this occurs.
