This lamp runs on 110/120 volts AC (standard North American wall current). The unit does not have a battery pack, but there's a fairly easy way to make this and other lamps "portable" for field use.
When taking the lamp out into the field, some collectors like to bring
a small 12-volt rechargeable battery (such as a motorcycle battery or a
garden tractor battery) and use a small power inverter to convert the 12V
DC to 110/120V AC. Depending on the battery's capacity in amp-hours, the battery
can last from a couple of hours to an entire day or night of collecting.
